Doug DeKoning is a 2007 1B/P with a 6'2'', 175 lb. frame from Menomonee Falls WI, who attends Menomonee Falls HS. He has a athletic looking build with good strength projection. DeKoning is a very good runner at 6.81. He's a very smooth fielding and agile first baseman who really stands out defensively due to his athleticism. There is no reason DeKoning couldn't be a very good outfielder as well, as he has plenty of arm strength and would be able to track balls down in the alleys. Offensively, DeKoning has a tall, balanced set up with a short hand load and a short line drive swing. DeKoning showed some gap to gap power but could improve more if he had more extension to his swing. He seems to be contact content but he has the leverage and developing strength to hit with some power. DeKoning also took a turn on the mound and threw up to 80 mph with an easy arm action. DeKoning is a nice young player with plenty of tools to develop. He is also an outstanding student.
