Baird is a 6-3, 180 lb. 2006 left hand hitting third baseman from Prescott, Arizona with a tall athletic frame. Baird showed some arm strength throwing 77 mph across the infield in the workout. Defensively, Baird was a very versitle player and showed great athletic ability playing diving plays at many positions. At the plate, Baird starts with an open stance and has quick hands. Baird showed some good pullside power with some bat speed. On the mound, Baird has a loose arm with nice arm action. Baird threw an 83 mph fastball with good sink and run. He also threw a 70 mph slider that had good tight hard rotation on it. Baird showed the ability to throw strikes with both pitches and also showed signs of a developing changeup. Baird has a good upside and is a good student.
