Chris Munnelly is a 2009 RHP/IF with a 6'2'', 160 lb. frame from Winston-Salem, NC who attends Forsyth Country Day. Chris has a tall, lanky build with lots of room for growth. He used a 3/4 arm slot to pitch in the high 80's, touching 89 at the Metrodome. He projects very well and his fastball has good life. He has a long, loose arm that works easy. His offspeed works well for him, too. He has a good change with sink and his breaking stuff has big potential. Munnelly is an outstanding student and has made a verbal commitment to North Carolina. It will be interesting to watch him over the next year.

Chris Munnelly is a 2009 RHP/IF with a 6'1'', 155 lb. frame from Winston-Salem, NC who attends Forsyth Country Day. He has a thin, young frame with some wiry strength and projects well physically. Munnelly has a very funky delivery, with lots of moving parts, a pause at the top and plenty of energy to the plate. He hides the ball very well with a compact arm action in back and hitters don't see the ball well at all. Munnelly's 84-87 mph fastball jumped on hitters and he pitched inside aggressively with it. His change up was a top level pitch; Munnelly's delivery contributes to the deception and he has outstanding arm speed and feel for the pitch. The velocity is perfect at 77 mph. This is a big time out pitch for him and he should keep using it frequently and not many any changes to it. Munnelly's curveball flashed good spin on occasion but his release point was very inconsistent on it. He also wrapped his curveball in back from the wind up but not from the stretch. Hitters wanted no part of Munnelly at all and there were a lot of weak, "let's get back to the dugout" swings against him. He's funky for sure, but a very good prospect. Munnelly is also a very good student. He was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
