There is something to be said for where a player goes to school, the competition he faces, and the performance he has against that level of competition. Virginia’s Mike Papi checks all of those boxes pretty effectively. He’s as visible a player as there is at a powerhouse program like Virginia, he’s faced elite pitchers all spring and he’s done nothing but perform at a high level since he began his freshman season back in 2012.
