Several more states have gotten their regular season underway and most of the southern half of the country has begun the regular season.

There is a new No. 1 team in the land for the first time this season, as Venice (Fla.) ascends to that spot and is followed closely by Archbishop McCarthy (Fla.). The top spot could have belonged to either team at this point. Venice held the No. 2 spot a week ago and took care of business, allowing them to hold off McCarthy, in spite of the Mavericks shutting out a top 10 opponent. Former top ranked Gainesville (Ga.) lands at No. 6 after suffering their first loss of the season.

There were several other changes to the top 10, as Barbe (La.) and Los Alamitos (Calif.) entered at Nos. 7 and 10 respectively.

Orangewood Christian (Fla.) breaks through this week and jumps all the way up to No. 25 after beating nationally ranked The First Academy with their ace Foster Griffin on the mound. The Rams improved to 6-1 on the season and their only loss came at the hands of fast rising Olympia, who moves up to No. 16 this week. Both Orangewood and Olympia are led by early round draft prospects in the middle infield. Forrest Wall is hitting .529 for Orangewood Christian, while Nick Gordon is not only getting it done with the bat and the leather, but also on the mound.

The other new addition this week is No. 40 Clovis (Calif.)
