Possible Rematch for SoCal Powers

Only a month has passed since the Perfect Game MLK Championships at Camelback Ranch in Phoenix, AZ.  Judging by today's results, not much has changed.

After two days of competition, both Phenom (Elite) and the San Diego Show stand atop the pool standings at 3-0.  In those games, both clubs have only allowed a total of one run a piece.  The Show's bats have dominated, combining for a total of 26 runs scored.  Phenom's offense has stayed hot as well, finishing pool play with 17 runs scored.

Matt Bliven, Perfect Game's Western Tournament Director, has developed the MLK Championships to become the most elite travel baseball tournament on the West Coast.  The 14u division of this year's event featured 24 of the nation's top programs with teams from Florida, Texas, Minnesota, Washington, Arizona, Utah, and California.  After heated competition the San Diego Show and Team Phenom were the two teams left standing to battle in the Championship Game.  Phenom took home the title with a 3-1 victory, but it looks as if the Show might get a chance at a rematch here at the PG Super25 SoCal Regionals.

Both teams are loaded with talent.  Phenom landed 10 players on the MLK All-Tournament team, including the Most Valuable Pitcher, Sean Osceola.  The Show placed six players on the All-Tournament team, including the event's Most Valuable Player, Jacob Allred.

However, a rematch is not guaranteed as other teams at the SoCal Regionals have proven to be up to the challenge.  The Dirt Dawgs out of Chino Hills, CA are also 3-0 after beating Black Ops Baseball, So Cal Select, and the Diamond Dawgs.  This team will face off against the Show in the first round of playoff action.  Team Phenom will take on the Wildcard team, So Cal SKLZ.
