Each draft class seems to have at least one player, and in many cases, more than one player, that gives scouts a lot to think about in terms of their long term positional profile. We’ve already profiled Dylan Davis, whose big righthanded power and 97 mph fastball certainly pose interesting questions, while David Rawnsley detailed the two-way talents of prep star Alex Verdugo yesterday. Cal State Fullerton’s J.D. Davis has a skill-set that paints a very similar picture. While most believe J.D. will end up as a position player, the pitching option is something that will at the very least be in the back of the mind of scouts this spring.
