DAVIE, FL- Nova High School went on to mercy-rule Miami Jackson High 10-0 after five innings on Wednesday (April 29th, 2009), but I was still able to see shortstop Michael Broad hit three times and have two chances in the field.

From talking to national-level scouts, it seems a down year nationally for shortstops and someone like Michael Broad might be a sleeper for a team bent on middle infielders.  He’s signed with Miami and would require significant money to be bought out.  There are a few scouts who are interested in him early, but it is not universal and time will tell if someone takes a high-round stab.
