WWBA 17U: Dissecting Day 5

The Perfect Game WWBA 17U Championships continued in Marietta, Ga., on Tuesday despite inclement weather hindering the schedule at times. And just like the previous three days of the tournament, the action was filled with excitement and there were several big-time performances.


In our quest to breakdown some of the top performances each day from the tournament, here's an inside look at some key players throughout the day who also happen to be commitments or signees with Division I programs.

Yak Baseball West 6, Philadelphia Whiz Kids 2

* USC 2013 commit, 1B Dominic Smith, had yet another solid showing, going 3-for-3 with a double, home run, a run scored and three RBIs.

Evoshield Canes 9, South Florida Bandits Pros 0

* LSU 2013 commit, OF Jake Fraley, was solid once again, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Orioles Scout Team 12, Diamond Skills Baseball 3

* VCU 2013 commit, 3B Darlan Carpenter, had a huge day at the plate with a key grand slam in the easy victory.
