Manhattan leads the MAAC

Perhaps it’s not common knowledge, but the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference actually has some parity with some solid programs.

In each of the past three seasons, a different team has earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA postseason. Manhattan captured the bid last season, while Rider and Marist did the honors in 2010 and ’09, respectively.

While Rider and Marist certainly will be back in the mix for the automatic bid this spring, the conference crown seems to rest on the shoulders of new-look Manhattan.

The Jaspers welcome back several key cogs, but have a new head coach in Jim Duffy, who spent seven seasons as an assistant at Seton Hall. Previous coach Kevin Leighton now is the head coach at Fordham.

It’s time to take an inside look at the MAAC.
