Life is good at Wright State these days.

Rob Cooper has done a tremendous job as head coach of the Raiders over the course of the past few seasons. But Cooper had an opportunity arise last summer, as Santa Clara came calling. The offer, at least to Cooper, seemed pretty intriguing. But in the end, he decided to stay put at WSU.

With Cooper back in tow and several key offensive cogs back this spring, the Raiders once again are expected to win the Horizon League crown and automatic bid to the NCAA postseason.

The Raiders have several key players to watch, but keep close watch on hard-hitting first baseman Jake Hibberd and relief pitcher Michael Schum. Both were in the mix for preseason All-American honors just a few weeks ago.

While Wright State leads the way, Illinois-Chicago and Wisconsin-Milwaukee are hot on its heels. UIC is a consistent contender for the conference crown, and that isn’t expected to change even with some key departures. Meanwhile, Milwaukee will have an impressive pitching staff with Eric Semmelhack, Jordan Guth and Josh Uhen leading the way.
