TGBA grabs 17u/18u top seed

MARIETTA, Ga. – Team Georgia Baseball Academy (TGBA) out of Marietta outscored its three pool partners, 25-1, and grabbed the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs of the 17u/18u Perfect Game-East Cobb Invitational.

The top four seeds in the 12-team playoff field received byes and won’t play until Sunday morning’s quarterfinal round. The other top seeds – all of which also went 3-0 in pool-play – are No. 2 Marucci Elite, No. 3 East Cobb Astros 16u Gray and No. 4 Excel Blue Wave.

Four first round playoff games are scheduled to be played Saturday night, but the East Cobb Complex was in a lightning delay at 6 p.m. (ET), interrupting the final pool-play games that were in progress.

The first round game featured East Cobb Astros 16u Orange vs. ABA Braves; Team Mizuno Midwest vs. East Cobb Braves 17u; East Cobb Astros 18u vs. Upstate Mavericks 18u; and East Cobb Orioles 18u vs. Team Alabama.

East Cobb Baseball entered 16 teams in the 17u/18u tournament and five advanced to the playoffs.

The playoff pairings for the 14u/15u and 16u invitationals will be determined when pool play is completed.
