HS Rankings: Lancers Climb

Bishop Amat (CA) captured their third CIF Southern Section championship in the past four years by knocking off Palm Desert 7-0 in the title game at Dodger Stadium. The Lancers moved up to #6 this week with the win, just one spot back of where they began the season, a n impressive feat after stumbling out of the gate, including a season opening loss to Palm Desert.

Other newly crowned champions this week include: #23 Cathedral Catholic (CA), #26 Holly Springs (NC), #35 Westview (OR), #36 Francis Howell (MO), #41 JW North (CA), #45 Lakota East (OH) and #46 Rancho Bernardo (CA).

Texas has reached the state tournament stage of the playoffs which will begin on Thursday in Round Rock. 5A favorite (and defending champion) CC Carroll comes in at #10 with 4A favorite Brenham right behind them at #11. Other Texas state championship contenders in the top 50 include #29 Calallen, #44 Klein and #47 Brazoswood.
