PREMIUM ANALYSIS: Breaking down the projections

Virginia was pushed to the limit at home against Miami last weekend, but earned yet another solid series win and is the top national seed in the Perfect Game postseason projections for the second-straight week.

The Cavaliers continue to put together an impressive resume. They're 9-3 vs. RPI Top 25, 14-5 vs. RPI Top 50 and 24-5 vs. RPI Top 100. It's also worth noting the Cavaliers have an RPI of 2 with a 45-6 overall record.

Other national seeds this week include (in order), South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Oregon State. Other teams considered for national seeds include Florida State, Texas A&M, Southern Mississippi and Rice.

South Carolina has an RPI of 6 and is 10-5 vs. RPI Top 25, 16-8 vs. RPI Top 50 and 22-9 vs. RPI Top 100, Florida has an RPI of 1 and is 13-11 vs. RPI Top 25, 21-12 vs. RPI Top 50 and 26-13 vs. RPI Top 100, Texas has an RPI of 11 and is 3-3 vs. RPI Top 25, 11-6 vs. RPI Top 50 and 27-10 vs. RPI Top 100, Vanderbilt has an RPI of 5 and is 9-6 vs. RPI Top 25, 17-7 vs. RPI Top 50 and 19-7 vs. RPI Top 100, Georgia Tech has an RPI of 8 and is 7-5 vs. RPI Top 25, 16-8 vs. RPI Top 50 and 25-13 vs. RPI Top 100, North Carolina has an RPI of 3 and is 8-5 vs. RPI Top 25, 12-8 vs. RPI Top 50 and 32-12 vs. RPI Top 100 and Oregon State has an RPI of 20 and is 3-2 vs. RPI Top 25, 15-6 vs. RPI Top 50 and 22-8 vs. RPI Top 100.

In addition to the national seeds, other NCAA Regional hosts include Florida State, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Rice, Cal State Fullerton, Southern Mississippi, TCU and Stetson. Other programs considered for host sites include Miami, Clemson, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Fresno State.
