Perfect Game adds Showcase for Ohio Valley

Jim Ecker
Thirty-seven showcases. Fourteen states. One busy year.

That’s the latest tally at Perfect Game USA now that we’ve added the Ohio Valley Showcase to our lineup for 2010. We’ll run 37 showcases this year in 14 different states, trying to accommodate as many players in as many different parts of the country as possible.

The Ohio Valley Showcase will be held on Aug. 7-8 in Lexington, Ky., at Applebee’s Park, the home of the Lexington Legends in the Class A South Atlantic League. You may request an invitation to this showcase right now by returning to the Perfect Game home page and clicking on Showcases in the upper left-hand corner. Scroll down to the Ohio Valley Showcase and click on “Request an Invite.” It’s as easy as that.

As it stands now, Perfect Game will hold showcases this year in Florida, California, Maryland, Iowa, Illinois, Texas, New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Kentucky, Washington, Georgia, New Jersey and Arizona. And who knows, we might add some more.

Perfect Game staged a couple of Ohio Valley Showcases in 2005 and 2006, both in Dayton, Ohio. Those showcases attracted players from 15 states and Canada, covering a wide geographic area. We anticipate the 2010 version in Kentucky will, too.

The 2005 Ohio Valley Showcase produced a pair of second-round draft picks in D.J. LeMahieu (Cubs) and Andrew Oliver (Tigers) and a fifth-round pick in Tyler Blandford (Mariners).
