Cangelosi Baseball avenged a defeat to the ABD Warriors in pool play, winning the championship game of the first Perfect Game/WWBA Underclass National Championship by a 9-7 score.

Both teams were playing with short rosters in the championship game and pretty much out of pitching. A total of 8 different players took the mound for the two teams.

Canglosi took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when a booming triple to centerfield by SS Mason Snyder scored leadoff hitter CF Matt Trowbridge. Snyder then scored on a wild pitch. They increased their lead to 5-1 in the 3rd inning, with doubles by Snyder and RHP/3B Sam Travis being the key blows.

The Warriors, most of whose players traveled all the way from Hawaii to play in the championship, stayed in the game by scoring 2 runs in the 4th inning behind doubles by 2B Kaimann Algniza and RF Alan Baldwin, making the score 6-3

Cangelosi stretched the lead back to 9-3 in the 5th inning on a 2 runs double by 1B Collin McEnery but the Warriors again fought back, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning and putting the potential tying run on second base before Trowbridge, the 5th Cangelosi pitcher, closed the game out.

Snyder was named the Most Valuable Player. The 2011 grad from Marquette HS in Ottawa, Illinois went 8-19 at the plate with 10 runs scored and 8 Rbi's. Six of his 8 hits went for extra bases and he also played solid defense at shortstop.

Cangelosi Baseball LHP Tyler House was named the event's Most Valuable Pitcher. The 6-4, 170 lb southpaw from Mount Carmel HS, Richton Park, Illinois, went 2-0 in 7 innings, including a clutch 4 inning relief outing in the semifinals.
