Stephen Strasburg, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, was a little-known freshman reliever from San Diego State, when he began playing in the New England Collegiate League in the summer of 2007. It didn’t take long for the baseball world to become familiar with the hard-throwing righthander, however, as he dominated Team USA’s college national team on his way to being selected the NECBL’s No. 1 prospect.
