Lynx wins 14u Texas State Championship


Lynx defeated Premier Baseball Futures 14u-Starling by a score of 5-1 to claim the 14u Texas State Championship. Lynx starter Myles Castor went 6 2/3 innings allowing just one run on five hits while striking out four. Hunter Smith came on to get the games final out to capture the win for Lynx.

Premier pitcher Joey Castillo pitched a complete game allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits as well as going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Lynx took control of the game early. In the bottom of the first William Brown knocked in two with a base hit to give Lynx a 2-0 lead. They didn’t look back from there, growing their lead to 5-0 before Premier finally cracked the scoreboard in the seventh.

Hunter Smith won tournament MVP and Myles Castor was named the Most Valuable Pitcher.





Hunter Pence Baseball-Danielson claims 16u trophy

Hunter Pence Baseball-Danielson beat Premier Baseball Futures 16u-Starling 5-2 for the 16u Texas State Championship. Izayah Quezada started the game for Hunter Pence Baseball. Quezada went four innings without allowing a hit, but he did permit one run due to his five walks allowed. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run. Evan Godwin took over the mound in the fifth and finished the game for HPB allowing one run on five hits.

Connor Phillips pitched a complete game for Premier Baseball giving up five runs on eleven hits in a losing effort.

Premier Baseball was able to scratch a run across in the third to take a 1-0 lead. They held the lead until the bottom of the fourth when HPB loaded the bases and scored two runs on a fielder’s choice. HPB grew their lead in the bottom of the sixth on three consecutive run-scoring hits by Logan Leax, Quezada and Reed Smith to command a 5-1 lead. Kevin Hoy homered in the top of the seventh to give Premier Baseball some life, but that was all they could muster off Godwin.

Peyton Chatagnier won tournament MVP and Hoy was named the event’s Most Valuable Pitcher.

HPBA-Crew win 17u/18u Texas State Championship

HPBA-Crew bested Texas Crew 4-2 to capture the 17u/18u Texas State Championship. Angelina Junior College commit Jeremy Rodriguez threw a complete game for HPBA-Crew, allowing just two runs on six hits while fanning nine.

Rodriguez was opposed by righthander Dimitri Cruz for Texas Crew. Cruz went 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs (only one was earned) on nine hits before being relieved by Jeremy Green, who came in to get the final two outs.

Texas Crew took an early lead in the bottom of the first when leadoff hitter Luis Salazar singled and later scored on a passed ball. In the bottom of the third Cruz was able to help his own cause by driving in Salazar to grow Texas Crew’s lead to 2-0.

HPBA-Crew fought back in the top of the fourth when Garret Veit doubled two runners home and was later driven in by Brayden Bahnsen to give HPBA a 3-2 lead. Rodriguez shut the door from there on out. HPBA tacked on another run in the top of the seventh for a 4-2 victory.

Garret Veit was named the event’s MVP and Kyle Smith was honored as the tournament’s Most Valuable Pitcher.
