East Cobb Astros Win 2007 WWBA 14u National Championship

The championship game of the 2007 WWBA 14u National Championship matched two of the historically dominant programs of the past and proved that those traditions will continue. Going into the Championship game, East Cobb had already won a game in pool play 19-0 and NorCal had just won their semifinal game 12-3. The East Cobb Astros 14u team beat NorCal Baseball 14u in a 4-3 to keep the title at East Cobb. Astros starting pitcher Matthew Crownover (’12 Ringold, GA) took a 3 hit shutout into the 6th inning before NorCal tied up the game at three. Leading the offensive charge for the Astros were SS/P Kaleb Cowart (’10 Roswell, GA), Michael Hodorowski (’11 Kennesaw, GA), C.J. Reed (’11 Kennesaw, GA), and Marc Frazier (’11, Newnan, GA). Cowart was named as the Co-MVP for the tournament. He was very productive at the plate for the tournament and also threw 2.1 very impressive shutout innings on the mound in the Championship to take home the win.

NorCal was lead into the Championship game by the very impressive defensive of tournament Co-MVP SS Phillip Evans (’11, Danville, CA). He routinely made great plays throughout the tournament and also had key hits throughout the tournament with 6 RBIs. Other key hitters for NorCal were Tyler Krause (’11 Fountain Hills, AZ) and Peter Miller (’10 Santa Cruz, CA).

Tri-State Arsenal and East Cobb Cardinals tied for 3rd place.
