The
big news of the day from Blair Field was the two-minute "cloud
burst" that dumped a scant trace of rain on Long Beach between
the second and third games of the day. Note that the weather
forecast for the day included a zero percent chance of rain. A
veteran scout of 20-plus Area Code Games thought he remembered
another time it rained on the event about 15-16 years ago but was
uncertain. The grounds crew did not interrupt their between games
field prep for the deluge but were demonstrably happy.
