Year In Review: MV-Pitchers

Jordan Posway
Successful teams in this year's National Championship season had one thing in common — excellent pitching. Pitchers are the most important position in baseball, and they certainly proved their worth this summer. Ten individuals turned in game-changing performances in their respective Super25 tournaments, and were recognized by the PG Super25 Staff. Here’s a look at the PG Super25 MV-Pitchers of 2015:

How they earned the MV-Pitcher Award

  • Cash Williams pitched the OK Mudcats all the way to the finals, finishing the tourney with a 2.5 ERA in 7 IP, while Jansen Kenty was dominant for the Gamers striking out 14 batters in 8 IP.
  • Carter Sunderman was the go-to-guy out of the bullpen for the Midland Blackhawks, pitching big innings all tournament including scoreless outings in both the semifinals and finals.
  • The Dallas Texans Lowe advanced to the championship behind the arm of Caden Fiveash, who threw a complete game and allowed only two runs in the semifinals matchup against the East Cobb Astros.
  • Standing at 6'3" tall, Westin Walls proved that he has the explosive arm to go along with his physical stature. Walls went the distance in the Banditos' semifinal matchup against a tough Dulins Dodgers team, and finished the tournament with 16 K in 8 IP.
  • In what might be the most impressive performance of the season, Masyn Winn threw two complete games to help Dynasty 13U win the title.  One of those outings even went into extra innings, where he threw 8 complete innings to win their first round playoff game.  Winn finished the tournament with 17 K in 15 IP and a 1.86 ERA.
  • Caleb Reis had a minuscule 0.7 ERA over 10 innings to help the East Cobb Astros earn the title of Super25 14U National Champions.
  • Ben Harris propelled the 643 DP Cougars to the championship game and a national title by allowing only 1 ER in a CG semifinal outing against the East Cobb Braves.  Harris recorded 9 K and was up to 86 MPH.
  • Alden Blest was a bulldog on the mound for Marucci Raley, finishing the tournament with a 2-0 record and 2.15 ERA in 13 IP. Blest also went 6 strong innings in the championship game.
  • The Austin Banditos received a dominant performance from Kragen Kechely at the 17U Super25.  Kechely recorded 7 K in a CG shutout, allowing just three hits and not walking a single batter.
