Year In Review: MVPs

Jordan Posway
National Champions are few and far between, but National Championship MVPs belong to a much more exclusive group. The PG Super25 Staff honored nine talented individuals that turned in exceptional performances during their respective tournaments. Here's a look at the PG Super25 MVPs of 2015:

Earning the Super25 MVP

While there are many factors that play a role in deciding the MVPs, here are some quick notes on how each of these players earned their awards:
  • Landen Granger hit .545 (12-22) with 11 RS and 5 RBI, including a walk-off base hit in the championship game for the Elite Gamers.
  • Kenton Collier pitched a gem in the 10u finals, allowing only one run in a complete game effort.  Collier finished the tournament with 8 strikeouts in 8 IP with a 0.75 ERA while also sporting a .474 OBP with 7 RS.
  • The BC Phenom's powerful offense was led by Liam Lombardi, who finished the tournament with a .652 (15-23) BA, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 11 RS, and an impressive 1.854 OPS.
  • MVP of last year's 11U Super25, James Tibbs put together another dominant event that led the East Cobb Astros all the way to the championship game.  Tibbs hit .750 (12-16) with 4 HR, 11 RBI and 14 RS.  Opposing teams were weary of Tibbs' power, walking him 6 times to contribute to his .818 OBP.
  • Dynasty 13U's championship run was due in large part to Reid Ricard, who hit .522 with 3 2B, 7 RS, and 10 RBI including three big runs batted in against Roadrunner Baseball in the title game.
  • Jack Alexander hit .526 (10-19) with 5 2B and 9 RBI to help lead the East Cobb Astros to the 14U National Championship.
  • Tri-State Arsenal's Chris Sabino's 5 RBI performance in the Quarterfinals ignited their team's playoff run, leading to a runner-up finish in the 15U Super25.
  • Juan Ganzaroli was "Mr. Clutch" for the Tri-State Arsenal, delivering walk-off doubles in both the Quarterfinals and Finals.  Ganzaroli finished the tournament with a batting average of .579 (11-19), 6 RBI, and 6 BB, many of which were intentional walks.
  • Trey Morgan hit .500 (6-12) with a HR, 2 2B, and an impressive .917 SLG for Marucci Johnson in the 17U Super25
