Teams made one final push for the championship bracket on day three of the PG Super25 16u National Championship. After three days of pool play in the Georgia heat, eight teams have qualified for the round of eight. Here is a quick recap of the action from the final day of pool play:

Mission Team Baseball pounced on PBA Demarini early with eight runs in the opening two innings of their 11-1 win on Field 14. Connor Sims was solid on the mound, allowing five hits and one earned run in a complete game performance.

The Charleston Braves never trailed in their 6-4 win over Indians Baseball Club. Timothy Ortega drove in three runs, two of which came courtesy of a fifth-inning double to center field. Jake Snyder lasted all seven innings for the Braves and earned the win.

However, the Braves would come up empty in their following game against the 643 DP Cougars Sterling. Skylar McPhee struck out five in six scoreless innings on the mound. Jamie Taylor and Hatten Mitchell combined for four RBIs as the Cougars bested the Braves 8-0.

The Cougars carried their momentum into their next game versus the Columbine Elite. Drake Murray fanned seven batters in as many innings as the Cougars remained undefeated in pool play.

It was a classic pitching duel between the East Cobb Astros and A. Green Baseball 16u on Field 16. Joe Lancellotti of the Astros and Austin Calopietro of A. Green Baseball pitched the entirety of the game, but the Astros provided their ace with more run support, resulting in a 2-0 victory for East Cobb.

The Astros ended up on the winning end of a 2-0 battle once again in their final contest versus the CV Marlins. Thanks to a strong six inning performance by Justin Wrobleski, the Astros concluded pool play with an unblemished record.

A. Green Baseball avenged their previous loss as they clobbered Bottom of the Ninth Baseball 10-2. Jared Pingatore recorded a hit in all three at-bats, including the two-run single that would ice the game in the fifth inning.

A big fourth inning powered Elite Baseball Training-Chicago past the Gulf Breeze Dolphins.  Kevin Barry’s RBI double sparked the four-run rally that would sink the Dolphins 5-2. The Dolphins would get back in the win column as they subdued the South Troy Dodgers by the same score.

Tri-State Arsenal remained perfect after a 3-0 pounding of PBA Demarini. Aljo Sujak was exceptional on the mound as he tossed a complete game shutout.

Rijo Athletics manhandled Marucci Trosclair 5-0 thanks to an impressive outing by Trevor Wells. The Athletics’ ace kept Marucci’s potent offense silent for all seven innings. Rijo’s offense caught fire late, scoring five runs in the final two innings.

The Athletics continued to dominate on day three with a 2-0 shutout of Elite Baseball Training-Chicago. Elite Baseball Training could not figure out Carson Ryder, who allowed four hits and no runs in seven innings of work.

It was a barnburner on Field 11 as the Scorpions North 2017 Prime and the Columbine Elite combined for 26 runs. However, neither team emerged victorious as the game resulted in a 13-13 draw.

The SA Angels Blue prevailed in back-to-back contests versus Marucci Raley and the Midwest Rangers National. Ty Reynolds, Maddux Solomon, and Garrett Wilkinson teamed up for seven RBIs on the day as the Angels finished pool play with a bang.

Tiger Adams propelled the ABD Bulldogs past the East Cobb Braves on Field 9. Adams’ two-run shot to straightaway center field was the highlight of the Bulldogs’ 5-2 victory.

The Bulldogs time on top was short lived as they suffered an 11-2 thrashing at the hands of Marucci Raley. With a bases-clearing triple in the first inning and a two-run double in the second, Ladarius Woods was the star of the game.

Scott Fleming rendered the opposing offense useless in Team Rawlings’ 3-0 shutout win over the Indian Springs Stingers. Team Rawlings’ ace notched six punch-outs over a span of seven innings.
