What Allen doesn’t have in terms of size or pure velocity he more than makes up for in terms of pitchability and guts on the mound, both of which he has in spades. Working in the upper-80s to low-90s from the left side, he commands his fastball extremely well, and mixes in three off-speed pitches with excellent feel and effectiveness. He sequences all of them incredibly well with advanced pitchability, and on the whole may be the best pure “pitcher” in the class.
