2007 ATLANTIC COAST UNDERCLASS SHOWCASE
Top Prospect List
1. RHP Chris Munnelly (2009/Forsyth Country Day HS/Winston-Salem, NC): Deceptive, quick delivery and an 87 mph live fastball, his change up was outstanding and his curveball good. Hitters wanted no part of him and were completely overmatched.
2. RHP-OF Nick McBride (2009/West Forsyth HS, Lewisville, NC): Very good all around athlete, can run and throw and is very projectable at 6-3, 185. Fastball is 86-87 mph now and 90+ in the future, off speed still developing.
3. OF Seth Newton (2010/East Coweta HS, Carrolton, GA): Young outfielder really stood out with his left handed swing and hitting ability. Also has right field arm strength and plenty of projectability.
4. 3B Michael Zeblo (2009/Broughton HS, Wake Forest, NC): Switch-hitter with tons of present strength and bat speed. Also threw 84 mph off the mound and looked good defensively at third base.
5. IF Bryan Bass (2009/Northern Durham HS, Durham, NC): Live bodied middle infielder who projects best at second base and can really handle the glove. Left handed hitter with some bat speed, plays with plus/plus energy.
6. C Michael Lebo (2010/East Pennsboro HS, Mechanicsburg, PA): Very young left handed hitting catcher who shows some real ability with the bat and the catching tools are there to develop, too.
7. OF William Henderson (2009/RS Central HS, Rutherfordton, NC): Graded out as the top defensive outfielder, along with having the top arm strength (88 mph) and 2nd fastest 60 speed (6.85); his bat shows some promise as well.
8. OF Logan Moon (2010/Blue Springs South HS, Lee’s Summit, MO): Four very solid present tools on a very young athlete, with only running speed short at present; can really swing the bat.
9. RHP Wes Hatley (2009/South Stanley HS, Norwood, NC): Very sound pitching mechanics, an effortless arm action and a feel for four present pitches. More strength will equal more velo and he’s 82-84 mph now.
10. RHP Daniel Brown (2009/ Broughton HS, Raleigh, NC): Good all around athlete who throws a very live 84 mph fastball and can pitch; his bat as an outfielder shows power.
11. 3B Anthony Finocchi (2008/Baldwin HS, Pittsburgh, PA): Mature hitter who can swing the bat with authority; plays a clean and fluid third base and throws 84 mph off the mound.
12. RHP/OF Chandler Tarr (2009/Christian Academy of Knoxville, Knoxville, TN): Long and projectable body and he topped out at 83 mph on the mound. We liked him better as a hitter, he has bat speed and power potential and will improve with strength.
13. OF Korey Martin (2009/West Lincoln HS, Lincolnton, NC): Live bodied athlete who has bat speed and can run; it would be interesting to see him play second base as he profiles best at that position.
14. C Thomas Lundborg (2009/Brentwood Academy, Brentwood, TN): The top defensive player at the showcase, can really throw and handle the catching duties. He has the strength to hit and his bat is developing.
15. IF Sam Dove (2009/Brentwood Academy, Nolensville, TN): 6-0, 140 lbs but he has some hidden strength as he can swing the bat and projects very well; also a 6.9 runner.
16. C Luke Fennell (2009/Centennial HS, Franklin, TN): Good combination of defensive skills, hitting tools and a feel for the game at a premium position.
17. 2B Tanner Beck (2009/Parkland HS, Winston-Salem, NC): Very polished player for his age on both sides of the ball and can swing the bat with some authority for a middle infielder.
18. OF Trey Hendrick (2009/Christ Presbyterian Academy, Nashville, TN): Excellent defensive outfield, showed very good speed tools and his 60 time (7.08) looked very slow compared to his game speed.
19. RHP/SS Kyle Hackney (2009/Northwood HS, Pittsboro, NC): Polished pitcher who is very projectable with a present 83 mph fastball, also shows nice tools at shortstop and with the bat.
20. OF David Turner (2009/Severna Park HS, Millersville, MD): Showed solid tools in every area and is projectable at 6-1, 170 lbs; should keep improving with more strength.
