Virginia: 2015 College World Series Champions

Congratulations are in order to the Virginia Cavaliers for winning the 2015 College World Series Championship. Although they opened the year No. 2 overall, they fell out of the Top 25 rankings altogether in early May, although did re-group to finish the regular season 12-5. They entered the NCAA Tournament as an unlikely No. 3 seed and proved to be an incredibly loose and opportunistic group, following the lead of their Head Coach Brian O'Connor.

As a result, they finish the season as Perfect Game's No. 1 ranked team for the 2015 season.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jheremy Brown, Mike Rooney and Nick Herfordt for their contributions throughout the season, as well as Mike Ferrin and SiriusXM Radio for helping to support our cause. We are very proud to have had all eight teams that made it to the 2015 College World Series be in our initial Top 25 rankings. The top four teams (Vanderbilt, Virginia, TCU, Florida) were the last four teams in Omaha, with our top two of course facing one another in the CWS Finals for the second year in a row. It was a blast covering college baseball as a team and we look forward to continuing what we started next year.

In the meantime stay tuned to Perfect Game as we'll wrap up our coverage of the 2015 season next week by providing our 2015 award winners (Monday, June 29 – Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year), All-America teams (Tuesday, June 30), our Freshmen All-Americans (Wednesday, July 1) and our eight teams to watch for the 2016 season (Thursday, July 2). After that our focus will turn to summer collegiate ball in addition to our continued coverage of our own tournament and showcase events, including the 2015 Perfect Game All-American Classic.

Thanks to all of you as well for taking the time to read our work. We hope you enjoy what we've done and what we will continue to do.
