2008 Top Prospects

Gerrit Cole  RHP - 2008 - Santa Ana, CA
UCLA

Live arm-pitched 91-94, and touched 95. Great run on his fastball that will break tons of wood bats. CH had great tumble with arm speed, and CB was sharp. Great upside, and one of the top pitchers in the nation.

Ryan O'Sullivan  RHP - 2008 - El Cajon, CA
San Diego State

He is a two-way prospect. O’Sullivan was up to 91 on the mound with a 76 mph curveball. He has bat speed with raw power potential to be a middle of the order hitter at the next level. A must follow.

Jomel Torres  1B - 2008 - Chula Vista, CA
San Diego State

Torres has a quick bat with great raw power. He gets leverage at the point of contact and can drive the ball with the best hitters in the country.

Shane Kroker  3B - 2008 - Westlake Village, CA
Wake Forest

Kroker has a very projectable body with upside. He ran a 6.93 and threw 87 mph across the diamond. His bat and glove are good making him a must follow. Kroker has a chance to be special.

Brandon Van Dam  RHP - 2008 - Lancaster, CA
Cal State Bakersfield

Van Dam showed the best raw power at the event hitting several deep home runs at Point Loma Nazarene University. Not only is he a middle of the order bat, but he was up to 88 on the mound. Van Dam has great two-way upside.

Matthew Harrison  SS - 2008 - Henderson, NV
North Carolina

The top defensive shortstop at the event showing smooth actions with soft hands and great feet. Harrison threw 89 mph across the diamond and ran a 7.00 sixty. He is a line drive contact hitter who makes consistent contact.

Brandon Meredith  OF - 2008 - Chula Vista, CA
San Diego State

Meredith is a physically strong player who can hit the ball a long way. His bat speed and power are among the best on the West coast. He also ran a 7.00 which is impressive for a player of his size.

Royce Bolinger  3B - 2008 - Scottsdale, AZ
Gonzaga

Bolinger is very young for a 2008 prospect, but you wouldn’t guess it from his build and tools. Bolinger threw 90 mph from the outfield with online carry, and there is strength in his swing. Great upside.

Thomas White  C - 2008 - Scottsdale, AZ

White and Bolinger both play for a talented Chapparral HS team in Arizona . White produced pop times under 2.00, with a best of 1.84. He has bat speed and strength in his swing that will make him a dual threat at the next level.

Mark Radmacher  C - 2008 - Rosemount, MN

Radmacher performed well in the workout portion, as well as in game action. He threw 77 mph from behind the plate with pop times consistently around 2.00. In one of the showcase games he hit a deep HR to right field and threw out two of the fastest players at the event trying to steal.

Johnson was one of several talented catchers at the event. However, Johnson was the best receiver of the group. He has very soft hands and works well behind the plate. He also has bat speed from the left side with power. He hit a deep HR to right field in game action.

Mitchell is a physically strong player who was up to 86 mph on the mound. He struck out 9 of the 13 batters he faced and allowed only 2 hits. Mitchell also has good bat speed with projectable power at the plate.

Berry showed advanced skills for a 2009 prospect. On the mound he struck out 7 in 3 innings. He showed pitchability at topped out at 84 mph. Two-way prospect who got it done with the bat and defensively as well.

MacNair showed solid tools behind the plate with pop times under 2.00, and a best of 1.96. He also collected two hits in the showcase games.
