Day 2 Batting Practice Highlights

Red

Mark Leyble (2016-Point Pleasant, NJ)-
has a strong 6-foot-2 build and uses that strength in his swing, generating lift and when he squares it, the ball jumps off his bat.

Josh Diana (2015-Manalapan, NJ)-
shows a simple approach at the plate with quick hands, creating consistent line drive contact back up the middle.

Connor Boyle (2015-Howell, NJ)-a switch hitter, Boyle showed a strong feel with the bat from both sides, demonstrating a smooth, easy swing. He shows more lift and squared up contact from the left side.

Black

Carlos Garrido (2015-Trumbull, CT)-
showed tools all over the field on the second day and with the bat was no different. Starts from a slightly open base and has a nice feel for the barrel, making consistent contact to the middle of the field and pull side.

Kelly Green

Stephen Palis (2015-Glen Mills, PA)-
demonstrated his ability and feel to hit solid line drives to his pull side with the ball carrying nicely off his barrel.

Thomas Genuario (2015-Saddle Brook, NJ)-showed a balanced approached at the plate with a short path the ball with good bat speed and the ability to hit to all fields.

Columbia Blue

Matt McKeown (2015-Barrington, NJ)-
is able to create very good bat speed with his strong build and quick hands and with the incorporation of his lower half, will hit for even more power. The ball jumps off his barrel at present and with lift in his swing, was able to put two balls over the left field fence.

Steel

Brett Nowell (2016-Wilmington, DE)-
showed a nice feel for the barrel of the bat from the right side with line drive contact to all fields.

Hudsen Hagland (2015-Charlsetown, NH)-shows some raw power in his swing, getting the barrel of the zone well and when he squared the barrel to the ball, it jumps off hard to right field.

George Revock (2016-West Windsor, NJ)-creates nice extension in his swing and with his quick bat is able to square the ball up hard to his pull side with some lift.

Brock Nowell (2017-Wilmington, DE)-despite being only a 2017, Nowell showed a very nice feel for the bat with a solid present hit tool that projects well in the future with some added strength.

Gold

Max Freidman (2015-New York, NY)-
shifts weight through his lower half well, creating consistent contact to all fields. With a contact approach, Freidman is able to create line drive contact with occasional lift in his swing.

Ben Faso (2015-Media, PA)-shows a nice hit tool with raw power and lift in his swing. With his strong, 6-foot-2 frame, Faso generates very good bat speed resulting in hard line drive contact.

Frank Pyle (2016-Rising Sun, MD)-
uses his lower half well through his swing which helps him to generate some surprising pop. Pyle gets the barrel of the bat through the zone well, creating line drive contact to the middle and left side of the field.

Connor Perry (2015-Longmeadow, MA)-shows a good feel for the barrel and the ability to hit to all fields, which when coupled with his speed, makes him a nice fit at the top of the lineup.


Columbia Blue vs Dark Green Game Highlights

Luke Scoggins (2015 OF, Merrick, NY) had a single and a double in the game with a run scored in the game.  He showed very good bat speed at the plate with a line drive swing plane.

Bryan Carroll (2015 OF, Syracuse, NY) had a pair of singles with a run scored. He showed a line drive swing plane with good bat control at the plate.

RJ Boyle (2016 RHP, Archbaid, PA) showed an online delivery with an extended release. His fastball sat 76-81 mph.

Justin Stybel (2015 RHP, Bellmore, NY) threw from a low 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. His fastball sat 78-83 mph with his curveball at 65 mph.

James Kelly (2015 RHP, Oceanport, NJ) showed short arm action on the mound with good arm speed. His fastball sat 80-84 mph touched 86 mph.

Owen McMenamy (2015 RHP, Dix Hills, NY) threw from a 3/4 arm slot and the ball comes out of his hand easy. Fastball sat 80-83 mph touched 85 mph.

Aaron Yurko (2016 RHP, Dallas, PA) had a pair of singles in the game with a RBI. He showed good plate coverage at the plate and squared the ball up consistently. 

Ryan Rumer (2015 LHP, Exton, PA) threw from a low 3/4 arm slot. His fastball sat 80-83 touched 85 mph. with a good tight slider at 77 mph. 

Black vs Texas Orange Game Highlights

Joe Zirolli (2015 OF Kennett HS/Kennett Square, PA) with strong athletic frame hit a HR to LCF.  Creates a lot of bat speed and leverage in his swing.  Zirolli had another single and a stolen base in this game. Also pitched, topped out at 87mph FB with 75CB.  Showed good arm side run on his FB.

Matt McGee (2015 C John Carroll HS/Forest Hill, MD) showed quick hands through the zone.  Recorded 2 hits in the game with an RBI. Also had 2.04 game pop behind the plate.

Nikolas Newmaster (2016 C Cumberland Reg HS/Bridgeton, NJ) from a crouched stance, showed good contact skills.  Very short bat path to the ball making him a tough out.'

TJ Backer (2015 OF Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg, PA) hit a triple to LCF gap in the 4th inning with a short compact swing.  Good rhythm in pre-swing approach.

Edwin Santiago (2015 3B Cristo Rey New York HS/New York, NY) from upright stance, he hit 2 singles to right field. Santiago showed short bat path to the ball and good hitting skills in this game.

Danny Wondrack (2015 C Hall HS/Hall, NJ) hit a HR to LF in the 6th.  Looked very comfortable in the box.  Good use of lower half which transfers to his power bat.  Had another single in the 9th to wrap up the game.

Sean Rodriguez (2015 LHP Nutley HS/Nutley, NJ) Up to 82mph with his FB.  From mid 3/4 arm slot, his FB has good arm side run.  Mixed some sharp 2/8 breaking ball as well.

Travis Cloney (2015 OF/RHP St Rose HS/Wall Township, NJ) with an easy effortless delivery, topped out at 82mph on his FB. struck out 2 hitters in one inning of work.

Teal vs Vegas Gold Game Highlights

Patrick Bruce (2015 SS, Westampton, NJ) had a single and a double in the game for the Vegas Gold team. He showed the ability to get his hands inside the ball and create good extension through his swing.

Zachary Daniels (2017 OF, Stockbridge, GA) had a pair of singles in the game with two runs scored. He gets the barrel through the zone well and showed good bat speed.

Conor Ganse (2015 C, Wilmington, DE) had a pair of singles in the game with a RBI and a run scored. He showed good bat speed at the plate with pop to all fields.

Peter Manny (2015 C, New York, NY) had a double with an RBI in the game. Created good leverage in his swing with good plate coverage.

Benjamin Wanger (2015 RHP, Newton, MA) threw from a low 3/4 arm slot with good balance through his delivery. His fastball sat 81-85 touched 87 mph.

Sam Devitis (2015 SS, Freehold, NJ) had a pair of singles in the game with a run scored. He squared the ball up at the plate with quick hands through the zone.

Alec Bowman (2016 MIF, Boca Raton, FL) had a RBI double in the game. He showed lift in his swing with pop to his pull side.

Jordan McCrum (2015 RHP, Dallas, PA) threw from a high 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. His fastball sat 81-86 touched 87 mph.  His slider at 78 mph had sharp bite to it.

Navy vs Maroon Game Highlights

Ryan Dimeo hit a double, while showing great discipline and good poise at the plate.

Brett Hyers pitched four innings. He gave up only 2 hits and 1 earned run. He struck out 6 batters. He has a mid ¾ arm slot with a long body and quick arm. His fastball has a lot of run and his curveball is sharp with great depth.

Anthony Meduri (2015, OF, Columbus, NJ) reached base three times and made good contact all day at the plate.

Justin Montalvo (2016, OF, Larksville, PA) went 2-3 with 2 singles while scoring twice. He stole a base and showed poise on the base paths.

Ryan Fodera (2016, OF, Staten Island, NY) hit a double, he showed lift in his swing with good plate coverage.

AJ LaBella (2016, MIF, Jenkintown, PA) went 3-3 with a single, double, and homerun. He scored all three times and showed great bat speed at the plate.

Christian Colon (2015, C, Hamden, CT) hit a single and scored. He showed great bat speed and has quick wrists at the plate.

Luke Covey (2015, OF, Milton, VT) went 2-4 and hit a double. He scored a run and hit the ball well to the opposite field.

Joe Granieri (2015, 3B, West Babylon, NY) reached base three times and hit two singles. He had a good plate presence and ran the bases well.

Josh Simon (2016, C, Laurel, MD) scored twice while hitting a single. He had quick, strong wrists and a good swing.

Ryan Coulon (2015, 1B, Lindenhurst, NY) went 1-3 with a double, demonstrating quality opposite field power.

Anthony Meduri pitched two innings. He surrendered 3 hits and 1 earned run, but he struck out 3 hitters while walking none. He sported a fastball that sat around 83, but touched 85. He also had a breaking slider with depth and 11/5 curveball. 


Gold vs Steal Game Highlights

Brent Rice (2015 LHP/1B, Avon Grove HS, Cochranville, PA) good angle, spotted both sides of plate, consistent arm side run. Range 80-82 and topped at 82.  Feel for the curveball developed nicely.  

Gannon Palmiter (2016 RHP/OF, Holy Cross HS, Clarks Summit, PA) throws easy with a lot of strikes, commanded the zone.  Simple repeatable delivery and hides ball well.  FB range at 77-79.

Steven Acosta (2015 RHP, Memorial HS, West New York, NJ) Topped at 86 and worked in mid 80s.  Gave up 2 hits with 5Ks. 

Joseph Sacht (2015 3B/1B, Garnet Valley HS, Garnet Valley, PA) Hard line drive contact to LF. 2 RBIs, squared balls nicely, hard contact on velocity.

Dario Anderson (2015 OF, Smyrna HS, Clayton, DE)  Hit a triple to right center, hard contact with good short stroke.  Quiet load with long finish, good feel for hitting and good contact skills.  


Cardinal vs White Game Highlights

Nick Costello (2016 3B, Our Lady of Good Counsel HS, Cooksville, MD) had a double in the game for the Cardinal team. He showed good bat speed at the plate with lift in his swing.

Dominick Claxton (2016 OF, Smithfield HS, Carrollton, VA) had a double in the game for the White team. He showed good plate coverage at the plate with quick hands.

Justin Hurd (2016 OF, Eastport-South Manor HS, Manorville, NY) crushed a homerun in the game to centerfield. He showed quick twitch skills at the plate with lift in his swing.

Sal Trancucci (2016 RHP, Staten Island Academy, Staten Island, NY) struck out five batters in his two innings of work. His fastball sat 79-82 mph with a good slider at 71 mph.

Johnathan Pena (2014 MIF, Samuel Gompers Career and Technical Education, Bronx, NY) had an RBI double to opposite field and had a stolen base.

Dylan Towey (2016 C/2B, North Babylon HS, North Babylon, NY) had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, hit from narrow tall stance, he showed good contact to all fields.

John Vasiliu (2015 RHP, The Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, NJ) fastball sat 80-83 and touched 84.  Pounded the outside corner.

Nick Serra (2015 RHP, Manalapan HS, Manalapan, NJ) was quick to the plate and fastball sat 78-80 with solid fade.  Good slider that ranged 70-74.

Ryan Shiffer (2015 C/IF, Tom River South HS, Toms River, NJ) hard hit RBI double to LF, quick hands and good bat speed. Has good framing skills behind the plate.

Stephen Farrell (2016 RHP/3B, Miller Place HS, Miller Place, NY) 3/4 arm slot with fastball sitting at 82-84. 12-6 curve that ranged 71-75.

Orange vs Purple Game Highlights

Eric Small (2015 C, Dowingtown West Campus HS, Downingtown, PA) had three singles in the game with a run scored and an RBI. He showed quick hands and good plate coverage at the plate.

Ryan Greco (2015 1B, West Genesee Senior HS, Camillus, NY) had a pair of singles in the game with two runs scored. He showed good bat speed at the plate with a line drive swing plane. He also pitched in the game, his fastball was 77-80 mph with a good breaking curveball at 69 mph.

Joe Fernando (2015 SS, Deerfield Academy, Brooklyn, NY) had three singles in the game with two RBI's. He showed good bat speed with quick hands and athletic skills in the field.

Jacob Hand (2016 OF, Briar Woods HS, Ashburn, VA) had a pair of singles in the game. He showed a line drive swing plane at the plate with lift in his swing.

Black

Travis Blankenhorn (2015 Pottsville, PA)-shows a simple, balanced approach at the plate with solid bat speed from the left side. The Kentucky commit has solid bat speed and present strength in the swing with a good feel for the barrel.

Justin Lebek (2015, Wilton CT)-creates line drive contact to all fields with a quick bat from the right side. He shows nice tools with the bat that will continue to improve once he simplifies his approach a little bit.

Joe Zirolli (2015, Kennett Square, PA)-starts from a spread stance and showed very good bat speed from the right side. When he squares it up, the ball jumps hard off of his barrel to the left side and he was able to put a ball over the left field fence with plenty of raw power.

Cardinal

Sam Little (2015, Fayetteville, NY)-
creates very good leverage with his long limbs while displaying line drive contact to all fields. The ball carries well off his barrel, as he stays balanced through his swing and projects for more power as he fills out.

Webb Little (2015, Fayetteville, NY)-showed some power of his own, putting a ball over the right field fence. The ball jumps nicely off his barrel and like his brother above, stayed balanced while driving the ball to his pull side.

Jake Leclerc (2015, Pottstown, PA)-put on a nice display of hitting as he showed a fluid swing and feel for the barrel as he consistently put the ball back up the middle during his round.

Columbia Blue

Miles Rimbaud (2016, New York, NY)- was able to put one over the fence this afternoon, using his strong 6-foot-4 and quick bat to power the ball well, especially to left field.

Dark Green

Joe Enea (2015, Manhasset, NY)-
is able to create nice leverage and get nice extension in his swing, squaring the ball up virtually every swing with the ball jumping off his barrel.

Ronald Pellegrino Jr (2015, Downington, PA)- Even when he was making average contact, the ball was jumping off of Pellegrino’s bat, who showed a quick bat and a strong upper half.

Liam Moreno (2016, Brookline, MA)- showed a quick, short bat path to the ball which allowed him to connect for solid line drive contact. He gets his hips through well and is able to create some lift in his swing.

Steel

Ian McIntosh (2015, Newtown, PA)-
created solid contact to the middle of the field with the ability to generate lift and get the barrel consistently to the ball.

Rodrigo Duluc (2015, New York, NY)- showed a quick bat from the right side with some present pop in his swing. Duluc produced hard contact to his pull side with the ability to go back up the middle as well.

Teal

Alec Bowman (2016, Boca Raton, FL)-
Despite being a 2016, Bowman showed a quick bat that produced consistent line drive contact to all fields with a quick right-handed bat.

Chris Jones (2015, Sewell, NJ)-
shows a simple approach in the box with the ball jumping off his bat when he barrels it up. With better use of his lower half, Jones will see his power increase even more.

Ryan Shinn (2015, Jobstown, NJ)- showed a quick and easy swing with fast hands and strength to all fields. Like Jones above, the ball jumps when it’s squared, using a simple load and fast hands to get the barrel through the zone.

TX Orange

Danny Wondrack (2015, Wall, NJ)-
impressed with his ability to create hard line drive contact with easy lift to his pull side. The ball jumps well off his barrel when he squares it up to the middle and pull side parts of the field.

Antonio Rivera Jr. (2015, Staten Island, NY)-is able to keep his hands inside the ball with nice bat speed and lift. He shows nice power in his in his right-handed swing with potential for more as he continues to fill out.

White

Brett Kinneman (2015, York, PA)-
showed a fluid left-handed swing with plenty of barreled up contact to all fields. Prototypical lead off guy with feel for the bat and showed off his power by putting two balls over the right field fence.

Mike Pascoe (2016, Poughkeepsie, NY)
-generated consistent line drive contact with hard line drives to all fields. Pascoe had a quick, clean swing path while maintaining his balance and with a bit of pop.

Stevie Mangrum (2015, Charlottesville, VA)-showed some of the best power at the showcase blasting two home runs to his pull side. The Virginia Tech commit showed an easy, loose swing with lift, which is generated from a short, quick bat path.

Nick Perez (2015, Lebanon, NJ)-easy swing with consistent line drive contact to his pull side and middle of the field. Perez shows nice rhythm to swing with power that should develop as he continues to fill out his lean, athletic frame.

Navy:

Ryan DiMeo (2015, Turnersville, NJ)-
showed very good raw power in his swing with strong hands and hard contact to his pull side. He shows solid bat speed and is able to generate some lift with his 6-foot-2 frame.

Charlie Concannon (2015, West Chester, PA)-
turned in one of the best rounds on the day, showing a fast bat from the left side with very nice lift. He gets his hips through well with quick hands and was able to drive the ball to all fields and put one over the right field fence.

Anthony Meduri (2015, Columbus, NJ)-
created hard line drive contact to all fields nicely, showing a short, quick swing and whipping the barrel through the zone.

John Aiello (2015, Lansdale, PA)-
showed high level hitting tools from both sides of the plate, showing excellent bat speed and power to all fields. His swing is loose and easy with the ability to drive the ball gap-to-gap with regular contact.

Maroon:

Drew Jarmuz (2015, Kennett Square, PA)-
had himself a very nice day and after throwing 88 mph from the OF and running a 6.56 60-yard, Jarmuz capped off Day 1 with a solid BP showing. With very good bat speed, Jarmuz is able to create contact out front and drive the ball when squared.

Ryan Coulon (2015, Lindenhurst, NY)- was swing the bat like it was a toothpick, whipping the barrel of the bat around. He drove the ball to 1 hop the fence multiple times, driving the ball with authority.

Myles Mensah (2016, NW Washington, DC)-
is a quick twitch athlete who showed a short, quick swing to generate nice line drive contact.

Purple:

Mitchell Blackstone (2015, Dunn Loring, VA)-
gets the barrel on the ball consistently, creating line drive contact to all fields, especially to his pull side.

Francisco Malave (2015, Middletown, NY)- has strong hands and shows raw power in his swing along with the ability to hit to all fields with a feel for the barrel.

Orange:

Vito Friscia (2015, Valley Stream, NY)-
showed very well in the drills portion behind the plate, popping a 1.81 and 82 mph down to second. His bat is equally intriguing; with easy lift and power to his pull side down the line.

Eric Small (2015, Downingtown, PA)- has a simple approach at the plate with an easy, repeatable swing. He creates contact to all fields and gets nice carry off the barrel.

Rich Rountree (2015, Jackson, NJ)- shows a short and quick path to the ball and is able to generate consistent hard line drive contact to all fields. Rountree is also a solid runner, posting one of the best 60-yard times with a 6.61.

Vegas Gold

Benjamin Wanger (2015, Newton, MA)-
shows quick hands and present power in his swing which will only increase once he incorporates more of his lower half. He starts spread and shows very good strength to his pull side.

Zachary Daniels (2017, Stockbridge, GA)- just completed his freshman year of high school and showed some tools in the box that should be followed over the next three years. He creates some lift in his short swing and projects for some power as he continues to mature.

Bryan Torres (2014, Bronx, NY)- showed well all day and continued to with the bat, showing line drive contact with some surprising pop from a short right-handed swing.


White vs Vegas Gold Game Highlights

Zachary Daniels (2017 OF, Eagles Landing Christian Academy, Stockbridge, GA) had a homerun over left field in the game. He showed lift in his swing and pop in his bat.

Alexander Hyman (2015 RHP, Monroe Township, Monroe Township, NJ) threw from a 3/4 arm slot with his curveball sitting 79-82 mph.

 Joshua Arnold (2016 RHP, Ocean City HS, Petersburg, NJ) pitched from a high 3/4 arm slot. His fastball sat 83-85 mph with a good sharp slider at 74 mph. Also added a double at the plate.

Mike Pascoe (2016 RHP, Arlington HS, Poughkeepsie, NY) threw from a 3/4 arm slot, his fastball sat 84- 87 touched 88 mph. Showed a good slider with tight rotation at 78 mph. Had a double in the game and squared the ball up well in each of his at bats.

Nick Perez (2015 RHP, The Hun HS, Lebanon, NJ) threw from a high 3/4 arm slot, his fastball sat 78-82 mph with good movement on his fastball.

13-Teal vs 14-Texas Orange

Bo Gilligan (2015 LHP Ringwood, NJ) from 6-3 175 projectable frame, Gulligan was very effective with his FB locating to both sides of the plate.  Topped out at 83mph with his FB and CB has a potential to be his out pitch.

Corey Heitler (2015 RHP/SS Fair Lawn, NJ) had an impressive outing with 8k's in 4 innings of work.  FB topped out at 85mph and has good movement. Tight spin on CB which can be really hard to track.

Robert Frawley (2015 3B Mountain Lakes, NJ) showed good plate coverage and hitting ability with a pair of singles in the game.

Brandon Kustek (2015 OF Seaford, NY) had great game with a single and double.  Balanced swing produces good bat speed and makes him a very tough out.

Danny Wondrack (2015 C/3B Wall, NJ) showed good hitting mechanics and hitting ability.  Hit a double in the game.

John Lluvera (2016 OF, Monsignor McClancy Memorial HS, Astoria, NY) had a pair of singles in the game, he showed good bat speed at the plate.

Matt McGee (2015 C, John Carroll HS, Forest Hill, MD) had a single, double and a run scored in the game for the black team. He showed the ability to square the ball up and showed good bat speed.

Justin Lebek (2015 RHP, The Taft HS, Wilton, CT) threw from a high 3/4 arm slot. His fastball sat 82-85 touched 87 mph. Showed good arm side run on his fastball and good depth on his 71 mph CB.

Vincent Torres (2015 LHP, Mercersburg Academy HS, Bronx, NY) threw from the 3/4 arm slot with sound mechanics on the mound. His fastball sat 79-82 mph.

Zachary Attianese (2016 LHP, Old Bridge HS, Old Bridge, NJ) threw from a 3/4 arm slot with excellent arm speed. His fastball sat 83-86 mph. Showed a balanced delivery and pitched downhill.

Jake Dominguez (2015 RHP, Central Regional HS, Bayville, NJ) threw from a high 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. His fastball sat 79-83 mph. He also had a double in the game with a run scored.

Mark Leyble (2016 RHP, Point Pleasant Borough HS, Point Pleasant, NJ) threw from a 3/4 arm slot with his fastball sitting 78-81 touched 83 mph.

Tyler Fischer (2016 RHP, Holmdel HS, Holmdel, NJ) sat 80-84 mph with his fastball. He showed good athletic actions on the mound. He also added a pair of singles in the game at the plate.

Alex Pansini (2017 RHP, Westfield HS, Westfield, NJ) sat 77-82 mph with his fastball and showed a good curveball with 11-5 breaking action at 66 mph.

Johnathan Rosero (2015, RHP Middle Village, NY) struck out 6 batters in 4 innings of work while giving up only 2 hits.  From a smooth delivery, Rosero showed very good command with his FB and CB.  With his FB, he was able to elevate them and also cut them as needed.  

Jeremy Westaway (2015 RHP Mendham, NJ) showed a lot of life on his FB from low 3/4 arm slot.  His deceptive delivery summed up 6ks in 3 innings of work.  FB topped out 83mph.

CJ Pruitt (2015 Aston, PA) displayed excellent arm speed topping out 89mph with 79 SL.  Really projectable with taller slender frame.  Competitor with good understandings of how to pitch.

Jake Leclerc (2015 OF/RHP Pottstown, PA) topped out at 82mph.  Good use of legs for consistent delivery and release point.  FB has some sinking and running action.

Nick Costello (3B/RHP Cooksville, MD) showed good plate coverage with inside out swing, hit double in the game. 

Joseph McMahon (C/OF Holbrook, NY) with athletic actions recorded a double.  Hits with strength and ability to adjust.  A must follow.

Daniel Klinger (2015 OF, Avon Grove HS, Landenberg, PA) had a pair of singles in the game. He showed good plate coverage with a good hand path to the ball.

Kristopher Morgenweck (2016 RHP, St. Augustine Prep HS, Estell Manor, NJ) struck out 6 batters in his three innings on the bump. His fastball sat 76-78 mph with good late movement.

Dario Anderson (2015 OF, Smyrna HS, Clayton, DE) had a pair of singles in the game with two stolen bases and two runs scored. He showed quick hands and the ability to drive the ball the other way at the plate.

Justin Willis (2017 RHP, St. Joseph HS, West New York, NJ) showed a quick arm on the mound with an aggressive approach. His fastball sat 82-84 mph with a good CB at 68 mph.
