Oregon State

In Corvallis, Oregon State is the living example of the expression "a rising tide lifts all ships." The talent on this roster rivals any other program nationally with the possible exception of Florida. Cross-checkers will be seeing a lot of the Portland airport this year.

Sophomore righthander Drew Rasmussen learned well from the departed Andrew Moore and he has assumed the role of leader on the Beavers pitching staff.

Talented freshmen infielders Cadyn Grenier and Nick Madrigal have both been as advertised and are off to excellent falls.

Two other freshman names to write down are outfielders Steven Kwan and Trevor Larnach. Kwan has been comped to Dave Roberts, and Larnach, who goes 6-foot-4 and 205-pounds, may have more lefthanded raw power than a guy named Conforto, who did pretty well for the Beavers.

Red-shirt junior lefthander Max Engelbrekt, who was dominant as freshman on the 2013 CWS team, is finally healthy and his velocity has jumped into the 87-90 mph range. Engelbrekt and the return of senior rotation arm Travis Eckert will provide a veteran presence.

In not-so-shocking news, sophomore K.J. Harrison is raking this fall and he's hitting balls in batting practice to places that haven't been visited since Dylan Davis left campus in 2014.
