14u Prospects Reign Supreme

Jordan Posway
The Kentucky Prospects reigned supreme in the 14u Ohio Valley Regional Championship this weekend in Lexington, Kentucky. The Prospects punched their ticket to their second consecutive PG Super25 National Championship under the tutelage of Coach Tremayne Donald with a 6-3 championship victory over At The Yard Baseball Club.

The Prospects’ starting pitcher, #5 Lane Diuguid, struck out six batters in four serviceable innings. Diuguid was spelled by #6 Drew McGowan who continued to puzzle the opposing batters during the last three innings while also contributing two hits on offense. The Prospects separated themselves from the opposition with a 3rd inning explosion that yielded five runs, including two RBIs by #9 Steven Molinet.

The Prospects’ experienced what it was like to compete in the National Championship last year, so they know exactly what to expect in Fort Myers, Florida. “The experience of being there with the best teams in the country was huge. You need to play a great game from start to finish against those teams, because if you make a mistake, they will make you pay for it,” said Coach Donald. “I expect a different outcome this year. Our goals are extremely high in our program year in and year out. I think the experience from last year’s National Championship has made us stronger, and I believe our team can compete at the highest level.”

Coach Donald’s Prospects will take the field July 1-7 in Fort Myers, Florida for the PG Super25 14u National Championship. The talent on the roster and their previous National Championship experience will serve them well as they look to prove themselves against the best teams in the nation.
