Astros Explode in 12-1 Win

Jordan Posway
In the most impressive performance of the night, the East Cobb Astros left no doubt that they belong in the Perfect Game Super25 National Championship. The Astros erupted for a nine run 2nd inning to pull away from the Roadrunners for good.

The only run scored by the Roadrunners came in the 1st inning with #5 Dalton Pearson’s RBI single to right field. His double in the 5th inning brought him to a perfect 2 for 2 on the day. The Astros’ pitching did a great job of limiting the damage from the rest of the Roadrunners' lineup.

In the 2nd inning, the Astros batted in five runs thanks to a flurry of RBI singles, including one by #5 Brendan York, who posted a batting average of .800 in the tournament, which scored two runs. The Astros added four more runs by taking advantage of a pair of errors and wild pitches. The scoring concluded with a one run 4th inning by the Astros to bring their total to 12 runs in the championship game.

Throughout the entire tournament, the Astros proved why they are regarded as one of the best 13U teams in the country.  The team scored a total of 75 runs while allowing only 15 in six games.  The Astros' athleticism, pitching depth, and overall talent will make them a strong contender in the 13U National Championship.

Pitcher Brody Westbrooks of the East Cobb Astros closed out the championship game with two strike outs and no earned runs in two innings of work. With the win, the East Cobb Astros earned a berth in the 13U Perfect Game Super25 National Championship in Fort Myers, Florida from June 19-25.
