Kevin Maiolo is a 2018 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Monroe Township, NJ who attends Monroe Township. Large, broad shouldered frame with a high waist and a lean, projectable build with room to fill, young look. Primary righthanded pitcher, takes a big side step into delivery, leg lift just above waist, deliberate tempo to delivery and lands on line with strike foot. Smooth takeaway upon glove break, works to an over the top arm slot and does a nice job of getting on top of the ball and filling up strike zone with fastball, topped out at 78 mph, mostly true in life. Projects with additional lower half into drive, flashed a curveball at 69 mph with short life and tight spin as well as a changeup at 72 mph to lefthanded hitters, maintains arm speed well. Take short steps to the ball both from the infield and first base, fields the ball out front, shows a lower arm slot on throws across from the infield, shows carry on throws from first base. Righthanded hitter, begins with weight on backside and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Uses a knee twist trigger, upper body dominant swing, gets the barrel through the zone well and shows nice carry coming off when squared. Steady contact to pull side, occasionally opens front side early, creates extension out front.
