Kj Wells is a 2018 RHP/3B, UT with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Elon, NC who attends Western Alamance High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.39 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, online delivery, downhill action, long arm action, very whippy arm, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Landed on a stiff front leg with a heel turn finish. Showed a quick arm with a fastball that worked 86-88/89 mph with late arm side life. Explodes out of hand and attacks hitters on both sides of the plate. Showed feel for spin with slider at 78 mph and late break with replicated arm speed. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with depth and developing sharpness at 70 mph. Kept hitters of balance and mixed pitches well. Also worked out as a hitter, started with a wide base, high hand set, high back elbow, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Developing bat speed with a pull oriented approach. Inconsistent lower half and flashed carry off the barrel. A switch hitter who showed best power potential from the left side. Will continue to improve with additional lower half incorporation. Exceptional student. Named to Top Prospect List.
