John Hurayt III is a 2016 OF/3B/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from St. Charles, MO who attends Francis Howell North HS. Strong, physical build with present strength throughout body and more room for future growth. Impressive performance on the mound. Drifting delivery from a leg raise start, gets downhill very well and generates good plane to the plate. Pounds the bottom of the zone with consistent strikes on all 3 pitches. Fastball was relatively straight and worked in the 87-89 range, with more 89's than 87's during his outing. Short, sharp slider in the high 70's with tight spin. Feel for firmer changeup in the low 80's. Hits from a slightly open stance with high back elbow. Leg lift trigger into slightly elongated swing with a line drive plane. A little rotational in swing. Showed ability to hit the baseball very hard but lacked overall consistency. Generates good bat speed and gets good extension. Ball jumps off the bat when squared up. Worked out in the OF. Very good arm strength with online throws topping at 89 MPH. Mechanics work with deliberate gather and crow hop to wind-up arm action. Good student. Named to National Indoor Showcase Top Prospect list.
