Luke Gutos is a 2018 SS/2B, 3B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Moorestown, NJ who attends St. Joseph's Prep. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame with additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 5.21 40-yard dash. Primary shortstop, stays low moving to and through the ball, soft hands out front, rounds the ball well and works behind it, shows athleticism and quick-twitch to actions, gets on top of the ball well and comes out cleanly from hand, good arm strength and carry across the diamond. Also pitched, short side step into a high leg lift above belt; full arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release. Quick delivery with effort at release, fastball topped out at 85 mph, incorporates lower half well and shows quickness to arm. Flashed curveball at 69 mph, slows prior to release. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even and bent knee stance with hands pulled back at start. Swings with intent and generates nice bat speed through the zone with looseness to hands. Hands get deeper in load but bat speed helps get the barrel out, looks to generate hard contact to pull side, occasionally gets onto front side early but shows leverage to plane. Has tools on both sides. Named to Northeast Indoor Top Prospect List. Good student.
