2015 Caribbean Top Prospect Showcase
Gerardo Gonzalez is a 2016 SS/OF/2B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Aibonito, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy/HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders, present strength and room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, stays back on the ball, fields out front and hands play at ball, long release with present arm strength and carry across the diamond, gets on top of throws, moves well on feet charging in. Listed switch-hitter, hit righthanded all weekend, starts with a high back elbow and an even, square stance. Upper body swing, stays short and quick to ball with swing path and shows nice bat speed through the zone. Incorporates upper body strength well, shows carry off the barrel to all parts of the field, long finish, best contact off the bat to middle of field. Good student.
