Javier Taveras is a 2017 C with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Mater Academy Lakes HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength, fairly mature physically. Compact arm action, has some quickness in his actions behind the plate, can improve footwork throwing and tends to stand up to throw, 2.06 best pop time. Also plays the infield and showed good arm strength there. Left handed hitter, spread stance with a limited shift into contact, upper body arm swing, long uphill swing path, middle of the field contact, will show lift at times with a lower back shoulder. Good student.
