Kade Burns is a 2017 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Edwardsville, IL who attends Edwardsville HS. Slender, athletic build with lots of room for projectable growth remaining on frame. At bat, starts from slightly crouched stance with high back elbow. Loads from toe tap trigger with quick hands to the zone, creating solid bat speed. Line drive swing plane, contact-oriented swing. Uses whole field consistently. Commands the strike zone well and doesn't chase bad pitches. Overall solid bat to ball skills with fluidity in swing. Worked out in the infield during defensive drills. Good arm strength with inconsistent accuracy. Showed quick hands and solid fielding actions. Tends to rush a bit. On the mound, throws from high 3/4 to overtop slot with a tall delivery. Straight fastball worked 80-81 with good plane to the plate from downhill delivery. Showed curveball and changeup to round out arsenal. Curveball worked in the mid-60's, topping at 68, with solid shape and some depth. Changeup sat in the low-70's, topping at 73, and flashed solid fade and velocity separation from fastball. Very good student.
