Colten Rendon is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Jupiter, FL who attends William T. Dwyer HS. Extra large build with good present strength, fairly mature physically. Long and loose arm action, good arm speed from a 3/4's arm slot with some crossfire action on release. Upper 80's fastball, has nice natural heaviness down in the strike zone, showed he could elevate his fastball on two strike counts above the barrel, some fastball plane to the plate, projects a bit despite mature build due to loose and fast arm. Breaking ball varies between a curveball and slider shape, tends to slow arm a bit on curveball but has feel for the pitch and stays over it well for a deep two-plane downer shape, slider is a sweeping break with moderate tilt. Has a feel for pitching and an idea what he's doing on the mound. Good student, verbal commitment to Winthrop.
