Ruben (RJ) Ybarra is a 2012 C/1B with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Riverside Poly HS. Very strong, physical build. Very spread hitting stance, bent knees, late hand hitch, long swing but generates very good raw bat speed, ball jumps hard on contact, plus pull power, can turn on the ball, knows how to hit, would like to see him hit taller. Catcher's running speed (7.5 in the past) but plus base runner with instincts. Quick defensive actions, stays compact and balanced, very good arm strength, 1.87 best pop, strong hands receiving the ball, polished receiver in all regards. Good student, verbal commitment to Arizona State.
