Reed Smith is a 2019 RHP/C with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Cypress, TX who attends The John Cooper HS. Recorded a 7.75 60-yard dash. Shorter frame with present strength but room to fill. Primary pitcher with a fastball up to 87 mph. Long arm action with a slight wrap and threw from a three-quarter arm slot. Throws with some effort and pounded the lower third of the strike zone. Solid arm speed with a three-pitch mix. Fastball showed occasional life and the curveball flashed tight spin down in the zone. Changeup was thrown with similar arm speed and had confidence in the pitch. Arm strength played well from the outfield. Ball comes out of the hand well with deliberate footwork. Spread open stance and swings with intent. Aggressive hitter who uses upper body strength well through the ball. Consistent hard contact. Named to the 2017 Sunshine South Showcase Top Prospect List. Great student.
