Luis Ortiz is a 2014 RHP with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Sanger, CA who attends Sanger HS. Strong athletic build, especially in the lower half. High leg raise delivery, high 3/4's to over the top arm slot, gets downhill, long and fast arm action, fairly low effort release. Low to mid-90's fastball, velocity comes easily and consistently, hard late life at times. Nasty slider was a present plus pitch at times, very good tilt and late biting action, elevated a few but mostly unhittable at this level. Threw an 87 mph cutter/change up with good life as well. Around the strike zone with all pitches and pitched aggressively and with confidence. Big arm and slider really stands out. Selected to the Perfect Game All-American Classic.
