Nick Longhi is a 2013 1B/OF/LHP with a 6-2 212 lb. frame from Venice, FL who attends Venice HS. Strong well proportioned athletic build. Right handed hitter, calm approach with a limited shift, very direct hand path to the ball, creates big power and bat speed from a short approach, best contact to right centerfield, learning to open up and pull the ball, stays balanced and hits through the ball, has tremendous hand and wrist strength, sees the ball very well. Very smooth and polished actions at first base, soft hands, big arm strength, top level first base defensive skills, also looked good in the outfield with similar arm strength and polished actions, can improve straight line running speed. Also pitched, compact arm action, tall cross body delivery, works from the stretch, slow paced delivery. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, mid-70's curveball showed good bite and depth at higher velocities, had some feel and sink for a 77 mph change up. Limited pitching experience but a legit two-way prospect on the mound. Good student, signed with Louisiana State.
