2016 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Jalen Jones is a 2018 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Union Grove HS. Medium, athletic frame with projectable build. Ran 60 yard dash in 6.96 seconds. Sets up to hit from spread out, slightly open stance with high back elbow and leg lift trigger with hands tight to body. Very good barrel skills on compact path, shows good bat speed, gets on clean path and repeats swing well. Showed good jump off the barrel, especially into right center field gap. Showed very well defensively in the infield, clean footwork to both sides with good range and actions at the ball, fields cleanly and gets off quick release across the diamond with accuracy, clocked up to 86 MPH across the diamond. Pitched as well, medium-length arm stroke through the back up to high three quarters arm slot, good plane to the plate, fastball worked 81-85 MPH and touched 86, good command of the ball to both sides. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape, good depth and snap at the plate. Named to 2016 Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
