Jose Fernandez is a 2011 RHP with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Alonso HS. Strong thick mature body. High leg raise delivery, gets good drive from lower half, stays on line, good clean arm circle, throws downhill, some effort at release. Steady plus fastball velocity, topped at 95 mph, pitched at 92-93, FB mostly straight. Power curveball at 82 mph flashes hard sharp biting action, good downer tilt at times, not consistent yet but potential plus pitch. Did not observe change up. Former Cuban National Youth Team pitcher. High ceiling power arm and body. Selected to Aflac All American Team.
