Gage Burland is a 2014 RHP/OF/IF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Otis Orchards, WA who attends East Valley HS. Young athletic build, very projectable physically. Athletic delivery, long loose arm action, 3/4's arm slot, fast and loose coming through, good downhill plane. Fastball topped out at 91 mph, good angle with some downhill plane, good fastball command to the lower corners. Power curveball with plus spin at times, hard downer break at lower velocities, shorter and sharper at slider velocity, potential to be a plus pitch, shows some feel for a change up as well. Impressive overall combination of present stuff, projectability and feel for pitching. Showed his athleticism on defense, 6.84 runner, moves well in the outfield, quick release, big arm strength. Right handed hitter, wrapped swing, closed start, rotational, line drive swing plane, mid field contact. Verbal commitment to Gonzaga.
