Jamie Bruno is a 2008 1B/P with a 6'1'', 195 lb. frame from Covington, LA who attends Mandeville HS. He has a very strong, physical build with mature strength. Bruno is a high ceiling young hitter with top level power potential. He has an aggressive swing with some effort and creates excellent bat speed through the zone. The ball explodes off Bruno's bat and he has very good leverage at contact. Bruno's bat speed/power isn't going to be more than marginally effected with a little less effort in his swing and his contact and timing could really improve. Bruno is a nice athlete for his size and body type. He ran the 60 in 7.07 and is pretty agile around the first base bag. Bruno also pitches and threw 86 mph from the left side. His slider is very sharp at 76 mph and is the type of pitch that should be very effective at the next level if he were to get a chance as a two-way college player. Bruno has a verbal commitment to LSU.
