Lander Castillo is a 2017 SS with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Santo Domingo, DR. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.06 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front, short steps moving towards the ball, works through the backhand well, quick transfer and release moving into a short arm stroke through the backside, shows accuracy across the diamond when on top of the ball. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a wide base in the box, shifts well through lower half moving into contact. Leg lift trigger for timing, employs a contact approach at the plate and looks to the hit the ball out front, consistent contact to the pull side. Line drive contact when on time, gets the barrel to the ball well and can works to the opposite field. Projects with additional physical strength.
