Sean Finerty is a 2018 SS/IF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Davis, CA who attends Davis. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 6.97 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with athletic footwork footwork while surrounding the baseball. Creates a slight hop prior to funneling the baseball with clean, quick hands. Efficient glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Flashed solid range to both sides and creates good momentum to the bag when setting up to throw. Loose arm action from a three-quarters slot that produced good carry across the infield, topped at 78 mph. Right handed hitter with wide, balanced stance. Hands start at a deeper, strong position. Lower half launches with some linear actions with shift into contact. Shows a level, line drive swing plane with a mid-field to pull approach. Consistently barreled baseball with raw bat speed producing loud contact. Also pitched showing some arm quickness from a three-quarters slot, release point tends to vary at times. Creates some directional plane to the plate with lower half. Baseball came out of hand cleanly on fastball offering showing some sinking and running action down in the zone. Fastball sat in the mid 70's, topping at 76 mph. Flashed a slider that has tight spin and some tilt in the upper 60's. Arm action and frame project for additional velocity with continue physical development and mechanical refinement. Very good student. Named to 2016 NorCal Showcase Top Prospect List.
