Matt Collins is a 2018 SS/ with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Beverly, MA who attends Beverly High School. Younger player with a lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Posted a 7.30 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, fielded the ball clean, consistent footwork, quick transfer and release, and accuracy to the bag. At the plate, started with a wide base, high hand set, high back elbow, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Fires lower half to the ball with a linear swing path and an inconsistent swing plane at second. Worked the opposite field with a ground ball approach in swing. Exceptional student.
